Pete and Julie live in the Pacific NW with three children and feisty guard-dog. Their meal planning adventures took off in 2006 after Pete was broad-sided with severe health challenges. At first it was thought that Pete had Left-sided Ulcerative Colitis, but overtime it became clear that he was in an all out battle with Crohn's Disease. Pete couldn't absorb nutrients and ended up losing large amounts of weight in a very short period of time (his friends called him "A buck twenty six" when he got down to 126lbs which is a long shot from his usual 210 lb weight). It was recommended that Pete go gluten free. Cooking and baking came fairly naturally to Julie, but once all three kids entered the world, and Pete took the unique gluten free diet path, effective meal planning became essential to surviving mealtimes. Since most moms struggle with the "What's for dinner?" question, Julie started sharing her meal planning strategies and recipes ideas with friends and family. Of course challenges still arise in trying to figure out what to prepare for meals, but the dinner hour is no longer an overwhelming event to fear as it was in previous years. Julie has since taught meal planning workshops and created a how-to dvd, and now shares stories and recipes with other moms on this web site in hopes of easing the meal planning burdens that families face each and everyday. |
